Gaia Framework for Adobe Flash Released
Flash Development Revolutionized With the Open-Source Release of Gaia Framework for Adobe Flash
Los Angeles, CA (June 12, 2007) – Technology author Steven Sacks today announced the free public release of his Gaia Framework for Adobe Flash (gaiaflashframework.com). Gaia (pronounced "guy-uh") is an open-source framework that provides powerful solutions for building Flash websites to designers and developers of all skill levels. Gaia dramatically reduces development time and is the first tool to feature a scaffolding engine for Flash.
The Gaia Framework for Adobe Flash has already earned the praise of high-profile coders including world-renowned Flash and Flex developer Jesse Warden. According to Warden, "Gaia fills a gap in the Flash development community. Existing frameworks for Flash are focused on back-end development and finally there is an open-source solution for the large community of front-end Flash designers and developers who, thus far, have been on their own."
Gaia helps Flash professionals work smarter and faster without forcing them to alter their personal development style. A front-end framework, Gaia manages features common to all Flash sites including navigation, transitions, and preloading. Gaia also contains important advanced features such as search engine optimization (SEO) through "pretty URLs", deep linking and bookmarking, all of which are built in and require no additional coding.
The framework is winning its highest praise for two of its most pivotal features inspired by Ruby on Rails: "Event Hijacking," which enables developers to pause the framework while they run custom code or animations, and "Scaffolding," which creates a fully functional click-through site in just a few seconds.
"The scaffolding in Gaia rocks," says Gabe Malicki, a Flash and Ruby on Rails developer at Halcyon Worlds in Atlanta, GA. "It gets rid of a ton of grunt work that used to be required to build even a simple Flash site."
"My goal was to build an open-source framework that does for Flash development what Ruby on Rails does for web development," explains author, Steven Sacks. "Gaia is designed to make building sites with Flash easier, faster and smarter. Between the scaffolding engine, event hijacking and straightforward API, it's a joy to work with. By using Gaia, Flash websites can be developed for less money, in less time and with fewer issues during QA, all of which results in a better overall experience for the developer, the client and, most importantly, the end user."

Steven, I look forward to playing around with it in the near future. Also, are you planning on building an AS 3 version?
