January 22nd, 2008 by Steven Sacks

The new hotness is here. Gaia for AS3.  The AS3 version is a huge improvement and developing it has been a blast.

http://www.gaiaflashframework.com/forum/index.php?topic=124.0

Highlights:
AS3 Flash file and class scaffolding
Only 32.8k compiled with 2.6k template swfs!
100% proxy asset classes + helper methods for common asset tasks
Simplified workflow, simple API, natural conventions, easy to learn
Event Hijacking for asynchronous custom behavior management
Complements the way AS3 and Flash are built
It's fun to develop with. Seriously! :)

Could you give a 50,000 foot view for those of us that didn't check out the previous AS2 version of Gaia? I noticed "scaffolding" – is Gaia an attempt to bring Rails-esque agile development to AS3?

There's an FAQ on the Gaia site that explains what Gaia is all about.

The Event Hijacking and Scaffolding are definitely RoR influenced, and agile, rapid development is where Gaia shines.

Can I make from this framework an e-learning application like what does onlineformapro ?

I don't see why not. Gaia is flexible enough to build many types of Flash sites. It generally stays out of your way and lets you develop how you need to and like to.
